New York, New York pictured left (well, of course).
I have designed and created a dress, inspired by the big apple which I will release via my blog while I am there. This dress is one to be worn out to New York bars and lounges and feel like it would be in line with the New York Style. I have drawn from the night skyline and have created a stunning blue above the knee dress.
I came up with a few sketches of designs which led to me draping the fabrics on the dress form to make my favorite design start to come to life. This part of my design process is the most exciting for me as it's where the design really starts taking shape and where I start to form the pattern.
To the left is a sneak peak of the 'New Yorker' (well, all it is, is the fabric pinned and draped on the dress form but it does show a hint of the end result).
The dress will be worn and photographed with New York's famous skyline as the backdrop. As I have never been to New York, my opinion and inspirations may change I'm confident the New Yorker will be an eye catcher.
Here's hoping I spot (or the other way around) street fashion photographer and legend Bill Cunningham from the New York Times while I am there. Cannot wait, will keep you updated with my travels on here and through my Instagram page and make sure you keep an eye out for 'The New Yorker' dress around the 21st July. xx
